Sesquicentennial April 2024

This video is a re-enactment of a presentation made at the public program to begin the Sesquicentennial year for the Lincoln Public Library. Established in 1874, the library had several homes before moving into the Carnegie Library in 1903. The four locations where the library lived before the Carnegie building are shown and some of the history of the transition from the Lincoln Library Association to the Lincoln Public Library is given in this presentation. Hopefully, you will enjoy the story of the first thirty years of the library in Lincoln, Illinois. Many more stories could be told about the library since 1903 but it will take another researcher to find those stories. The sources of information presented in this video can be found in full in the quarterly for Spring 2021, Fall 2021, and Summer 2024, Roots and Branches, of the Logan County Genealogical & Historical Society.
