Who Can Participate?
All children from birth until the beginning of Kindergarten, (newborn, infant, toddler and pre-schooler).
How Does It Work?
- Color in a space on the reading log for every book read together.
- Count all books read aloud by a parent, caregiver, sibling, or friend.
- Count all books read at home, daycare, story time, online, audio, eBook from cover to cover, even if the book is read multiple times.
- Claim a sticker at the Youth Services Desk at Lincoln Public Library District for each log completed. (100 book increments)
- Move your name across the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten display for each 100 books read.
- When all ten logs are completed, receive a sticker, a certificate, a book tote, a book, and your picture taken.
- Self-paced program and can be tracked online through the READsquared app or with paper reading logs.

- Why should my child(ren) participate?
- Reading to a child regularly is the most effective way to build early literacy skills and to develop vocabulary.
- How long will the program take?
- The program is self-paced. It can take a few months or a few years depending on how often books are read.
1 book per day X 3 years = 1095 books
10 books per week X 2 years = 1040 books
3 books per day X 1 year = 1095 books

- Stop by the Youth Services Desk to sign up and receive your first book log.
